Flowers are an essential element in most weddings. Whether its the bride’s bouquet or the centerpieces, chances are the newlyweds will be taking home at least some of their flowers after the wedding.
And while you might want to let them live in a vase until they wilt, some would prefer to have them preserved. My tip for future brides is to have a game plan *before* your wedding on what you will do with your flowers, and not have to make a rush decision as they deteriorate.
To be perfectly honest, I didn’t give my post-wedding flowers much thought. It was only on the drive home that I figured I would simply press the flowers in a heavy book. However, after pressing a few flowers, I had so many more leftover from my bouquet. I made a quick decision to dry a full garland and I am so thankful I did as it’s one of my favorite wedding mementos.
The flowers I did press did not fare very well. I have dreams of beautiful flattened flowers, but they turned more into a murky mess, so I am grateful I found an alternative way to keep my bouquet. Another tip, the delicate peonies did not hold up well to dry or press, so plan for the hardiest flowers only!
Did you keep any flowers after your wedding? I would love to hear what you did with them!
