There is nothing I love more than a confetti moment. Truly. Just ask my friends from New Years 2014, wherein a moment of excitement, I handed out bags of metallic, plastic foil confetti to every single friend to throw at our party at midnight without giving thought to the mess that it would create. It took nearly the full day to clean up afterward, and we still have a few pieces permanently melted into our dining room table. I’ve since learned that foil confetti is not only a massive mess waiting to happen, but it’s also not biodegradable.
There is such excitement once your ceremony ends that it just feels right to demonstrate this joy with a lil confetti. Whether your ceremony is indoors or out, here are a few alternatives to that sustainable and a few that are less of a mess (remember that clean up is still necessary with these options even if they are better for the environment!)
Dried Wild Flowers
This blend contains a mix of dried garden herbs and flowers including rose petals, calendula, cornflowers, Lemon Balm, Mints, Seeds, lavender, olive leaves, eucalyptus leaves, lemon verbena. Not only does it look beautiful, but reviewers say it smells heavenly.
Seeded Paper Confetti
These biodegradable hearts made with post-consumer materials and infused with wildflower seeds that will grow when planted.
Lavender
This eco-friendly option is perfect for those that love the calming scent of lavender.
Rice Paper Confetti
This rice paper confetti will be gorgeous for a wedding celebration, however, while it is water-soluble, it’s not instant and will take some agitation (and probably time!) to fully dissolve so plan accordingly.
White No-Mess Throw Streamers
We used these for our wedding. They were such a joyful option that was essentially mess-free, as the streamers stay attached to the hand-held package, and we were so happy with how our pictures came out.
Colorful No-Mess Throw Streamers
Also available in a more colorful option!
