I’ve had the pleasure of being a bridesmaid several times over the past decade, with varying degrees of difficulty when it came to the dress process.
My experiences have usually been pretty seamless, but I know that’s not always the case. When my dear friend was planning her wedding a few years ago, she made the bridesmaid dress decision as simple as possible—or so she thought. Each gal was to select a Tencel (a sustainable and soft denim fabric) dress to perfectly complement her gorgeous wedding on a Vermont flower farm. Turns out, the task was harder than it seemed, and while I was lucky enough to scoop up my dress early on, some of the other bridesmaids were on the hunt for months in a cycle of constant orders and returns until they found “the one.”
For my own seven bridesmaids, I envisioned them in long flowy, dusty-rose dresses that were mismatched but coordinated. I searched all over and created a Pinterest board in January of a dozen dresses to choose from, with the goal of adding more as lighter styles became available in the Spring for our June wedding. Once the link went out, one gal purchased her dress right away, but the others wanted to wait to see what would pop up. I quickly realized that having too many options might not be the best idea, backtracked on my mismatched rose-hued dreams and went an entirely different direction with Birdy Grey.
Choosing Birdy Grey for my bridesmaid dresses was one of the best decisions I made while wedding planning. I had read about the brand for months, but I wish I gave it a closer look from the start. It would have saved me a ton of energy. I majorly simplified the process and gave my gals just two dress options to choose from, the Jules and the Gwennie, which somehow there was an ideal 3:4 split between the styles.
With sizes ranging from XS-3X, a collection of super-flattering styles plus fast shipping and easy returns, these were the bridesmaids dresses of my dreams. Oh, and every dress is under $100, which you’d never guess as the fabric felt perfect. My gals wore dresses in the almost-white Champagne color that looks like it’s no longer available, but we were pleasantly surprised that the dresses weren’t at all see-through. Each style comes in a bunch of different shades, meant to be mixed and matched, if you please.
I wish I had planned to use Birdy Grey from the beginning, but having even just one wedding-planning decision instantly simplified felt like such a relief.
Are you on the hunt for the perfect bridesmaid dresses? Have you looked into Birdy Grey or do you know of any other brands that make the process easier? I’d love to hear about it!
