TLDR: Kiss Falscara is a great alternative that works well for the price and a good trial to see if Lashify would work for you.
Lashes have always been the most important part of my beauty routine. I’ve been getting extensions on and off for over a decade, and I was fully committed to their maintenance for events surrounding our wedding.
However, the application process is pretty brutal. Lying with your eyes taped shut for over an hour every is not only a time-suck, but it would also trigger my anxiety. Plus, going back every two weeks to the salon for touchups.
To cut back on the salon time, I’ve been trying Lashify—a DIY lash kit that look like pro extensions and super easy to apply, once you get the hang of it. To start, bond your lashes with an adhesive delivered in mascara form and apply the cluster lashes underneath your own lashes with a special tool (kinda looks like very long tweezer with a rounded edge). Then clamp the lashes with the tool to set and apply a coat of the sealer. Voila. The whole process take about 10 minutes and can last up to 7 days, though mine usual last around 3-5. Since these go underneath your own lashes, they’re undetectable. You’re also able to choose the length, thickness and shape of the lashes (I go for B12 or C14).
Fair warning, I had some issues the first time I used the kit, aside from the learning curve. The adhesive glued my lashes together and I actually thought it damaged them (it didn’t – phew). Also, I found that their newer glue launch (Bondage) works so much better than the glue they give you in the starter kit.
When Kiss launched their Falscara Eyelash Kit, I knew I had to get it to see how it measures up to Lashify. It’s significantly less expensive ($20 for the starter kit vs. Lashify’s $145) and I think a great opportunity to try out this type of lash system before fully investing in Lashify. This kit definitely was better than I thought: the tool you use to apply the lashes worked well and the glue supported the lashes (which are applied underneath your actual lashes just like Lashify) all day. However, the Lashify lashes are lighter with a more realistic shape.
