It might be because we’ve been quarantined for ?? months, but truly, is there anything better than a bachelorette party? Every single one I’ve been to has been so memorable—from the coziest stay in a luxurious log cabin in Vermont to a pool float-packed, winter-escape in Florida to wild nights out in NYC.
When it came to my own bachelorette weekend, I had four requests:
- A weekend away at an Airbnb, preferably in a Victorian mansion
- I wanted everyone to wear vintage nightgowns
- There must be a dance party
- A dinner of appetizers from the frozen aisle of the grocery store (mozzarella sticks! bagel bites! onion rings!)
With those requirements in mind, my gals created the most incredible weekend away for me that I wish I could relive over and over again. We stayed at the home 90% of the time and it felt like a giant sleepover with my best friends.
Friday
We traveled to Rhinebeck, New York, about two hours North of the city, and stayed in the house of my dreams—a six-bedroom, three-story Victorian beauty built in 1875 that was renovated to perfection. There were 13 of us total so most of us shared beds, adding to the sleepover-vibes of the weekend.
After exploring the home and popping the champagne into the cutest personalized cups, it was time for dinner, in which my friends surprised me with Olive Garden takeout. I’ve (sadly) only been to Olive Garden a handful of times, but I am obsessed with their salad and breadsticks. We stayed up late drinking margaritas and singing early 2000s emo songs, and it was the perfect first night.
Saturday
After breakfast, we strolled over to an antique store, where most of us found a few treasures to take back home with us (I bought a crystal pin to commemorate the weekend that I adore, but never wear). As soon as we returned home, wine was poured as we crafted and puzzled. One of the gals braided everyone’s hair. That afternoon, another surprise arrived: my friends hired a psychic to give us all readings—many of which were eerily accurate. It should be noted though, that if you’re hiring a psychic, let them know to keep things light. Ours was mostly wonderful, but told some gals some pretty hard-to-hear inaccuracies that stirred up a lot of unnecessary emotion.
Wearing our nightgowns, we then played some bachelorette games, including What Do You Meme? For The Girls and a Banana Ring Toss Game—I love a bach game and these two were hilarious. My dinner wishes came true with endless rounds of appetizers popping out of the oven, and we also had the most epic dance party that house has ever seen in its nearly 150-year-old history.
Sunday
The weekend ended too soon as we packed up the house and ate leftover appetizers and Olive Garden breadsticks. My advice is to extend your bach weekend for as long as possible. It goes by way too fast!
Tell me about your favorite bach parties you’ve attended. Where were they and what made them special?
